This morning, my sister and I went to a few of our local charity shops to have a look at the books. The little owl ornaments above aren't books, but they're ever so cute. They were 60p each, which I think is quite expensive for a charity shop, but I couldn't resist. While photographing them, Jacks came to see what the fuss was about, and just had to have a play. As well as these, I bought quite a few books! The ones on the left were 99p each, and the ones on the right were just 25p each. I haven't heard of most of them, so don't know if they're going to be any good, but for the price, it's worth the gamble!

How I Apply Dry Shampoo

My hair gets greasy quickly. I know people say that not washing your hair every day can help this, but it didn't work when I tried it. I had a few weeks off and wasn't doing much, so decided to give it a go. After a few weeks, nothing had changed. It may require longer than this, but I'm not doing it again because I refuse to even leave the house with greasy hair. So, although I wash my hair every evening, sometimes it needs some sprucing up in the mornings because I have a habit of playing with it. I don't like dry shampoo sprays because you don't get much product, and half of it ends up in the air. I prefer bottles, and am currently using Lush's Vanilla Puff Dusting Powder. After I've run out of this, I'm just going to refill it with cornflour because that's the main ingredient in it (and most dry shampoos/face powders). When I apply a dry shampoo directly to my roots, I find it goes on unevenly and a lot of product sticks to my scalp (so gross!). To get around this, I've been applying it with a powder brush. I simply tip some dry shampoo into the palm of my hand, pick some up on the brush, and apply to my hair. This makes it apply evenly, and ensures you're not left with white/grey marks.

 I was browsing Fragrance Direct at the weekend when I came across some Dainty Doll cosmetics. After a quick search on Twitter and Google, other bloggers found them on the website a couple of weeks ago, but I had completely missed the mentions! I was expecting to find ugly shades that couldn't be flogged anywhere else, but was pleasantly surprised when I looked at the cream and powder blushes, which were selling for just £1.99 each. I ended up buying 6 of the shades, oops! But all of these came to less than one would originally cost. Also, none of the other products interested me. I don't wear foundation or eyeshadow, and the lipstick shades didn't appeal to me. And, although all 6 are labelled as blushes, I'm going to use one of the creams and one of the powders as bronzers. When opening them, I noticed that each shade of the creams matches with one of the powders, so I can set them, ensuring they last all day. My first impressions are good. I love the colours, and the powder blushes are soft and pigmented. The cream blushes aren't as creamy or pigmented as my NYX ones, but neither are the other cream blushes I own. Their pigmentation isn't bad though, and can easily be built up. Some may see this as a good thing because you're less likely to give yourself clown cheeks!

Look Beauty Nail Pop in Dusky

 

After wearing a dark, gunmetal nail polish for a week and a half, I fancied a delicate, girly shade. Look Beauty's Dusky is a dusky, warm lilac with subtle shimmer. I didn't have any problems with the formula, and it took three coats to become opaque. I don't know if I would pay the original £5 price tag for it, but it's definitely worth the £2.50 I paid during the half price sale. If you fancy trying a couple of shades, they are currently on offer for 2 for £6.

Lush The Brightside Bubble Bar Review

The Brightside is one of the limited edition products Lush has brought out for Easter, and I wish they'd make it permanent! It's the same design, size and price (£4.25) as The Comforter and Blue Skies and Fluffy White Clouds, but the colours and scent are different. The Brightside has a citrus fragrance and smells of natural, sharp oranges. Some products have multiple fragrance notes, so you can never pin point the true scent, but that is not the case with this bubble bar. It only smells of oranges, and I absolutely love it. Performance wise, it's also great. It produces lots of bubbles and leaves the water a deep orange shade. I don't have baths, but I do love a good foot soak, and use bubble bars in them. If you use bubble bars for baths, you can cut this into 6-8 pieces, making it worth the money (I know some people can even get about 10 uses out of it). It'll last even longer for me because foot soaks require much less water. Like the other varieties of this bubble bar, Lush say 'you can easily break it in two and save the second half for another day'. They really need to change that. You can get so many more uses out of it. I think using half at once is a waste.

On our walk the other day...

On our walk the other day, I took some photos of Jessie and Buddy posed on the steps near the woods, and I think they look adorable! This was after they went swimming in the river. We then went home and I bathed and blow dried them. This was also the day my dad and I went to B&Q to buy my book shelves, and put them up. My books now have a home! And there's room for more, which can only be a good thing. I can't see there being space for much longer though because I'm currently reading, and enjoying, The City of Bones, so want to buy the rest of The Mortal Instruments series. There's five books in it at the moment.
